What is hypnosis?

Thanks Hollywood!

Thanks to Hollywood, there are folks out there that believe that hypnosis is what you would do to another person in order to get them to do something evil for you.  The "victim" then proceeds to carry out the demands in their very best Frankenstein walk!

The boring truth to this myth is that we are in and out of a hypnotic state throughout the day.  Some call it daydreaming or just checking out for a minute.  To some it doesn't feel any different than just closing your eyes.  Yes, it's that simple.

Many think hypnosis to be a type of sleep.  Instead, it is a heightened state of awareness.  Colors are usually more vivid, sight can be extremely clear, and quite often the scents and sounds are brilliant.  More often than not, my clients are speaking with me to facilitate whatever therapy is taking place.

The reason that hypnosis is so effective is due to the fact that the hypnotherapist is able to gently excuse the conscious thought and work directly with the person's subconscious where profound changes can be made.

It's that simple.
